Milla Mäkinen
Milla Mäkinen, Milla Mäkinen (PhD) is a lecturer in service design at LAB University of Applied Sciences, Institute of Design and Fine Arts (Lahti, Finland). Her research and work is positioned in the fields of user-centered design, service design and the use of qualitative methods in design, with a special interest in public services, social and health services, and socially sustainable service design. Her research focuses on service experiences in public service ecosystems, especially in the contexts of diversity and ageing.
In addition to her research and teaching, she is engaged in professional work in the field of service design and actively participates in LAB University of Applied Sciences’ RDI projects as a service design expert. She has been involved in several projects on age-friendly service design and is currently working on using service design to address the problem of matching labour migration and labour market needs in health and social care services in Finland.
