/SUSER/ SUMMER SCHOOL TILBURG, The Netherlands: Climate Positive Elderly Housing

2 – 6 September 2024.

On Monday, September 2, we will start our international summer school: Climate-positive housing for the elderly; caring together.
On this day we have an opening conference at Avans where teachers, experts and local stakeholders present themselves to the students (30 students from 4 different countries). During the summer school students will work at 3 locations within Tilburg to design solutions for future-proof housing for the elderly. They do this on 3 scale levels; home (product/interior/routing), building and environment.
The summer school is part of a multi-year European project in which researchers from universities of sciences in Austria (FHOO), Finland (LAB), Serbia (UNIBEL) and the Netherlands (AVANS) collaborate. Students from a non-care background will focus on current social problems through creating design concepts and testing innovative methodologies for elderly service housing design to help the elderly to live at home for longer with support from their environment.

The Goal?
Students come up with solutions that demonstrably help employees and the elderly to live longer and independently (with support from family/friends/(un)acquaintances). The Outcomes must have a demonstrable effect on the involvement of society in healthcare. Active Longer at Home is an important starting point as well as planning in the city for people with dementia.

Who are we looking for?
Students from various backgrounds that want to work interdisciplinary with students from the field of: product design, engineering, architecture, urban design and healthcare.
