Vladimir Lojanica
D. Eng. Arch. Vladimir Lojanica is a dean and full professor at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture. He has been a full professor at the Department of Architecture – field of architectural design and contemporary architecture since 2013. He performed the function of vice dean for academic affairs at the Faculty of Architecture from 2009-2012. Since 2015, he’s been the Head of the Department of Architecture. From 2021, he is the dean of the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture. In 2004, he founded an independent architectural practice, the architectural studio Proaspekt, within which he regularly and successfully participates in public national and international architectural competitions, where he has won numerous awards. He is the author of a series of projects and executed buildings both in the country and abroad.
The professional work is referent in three characteristic branches of comparative activities:
– Theoretical scientific research and pedagogical-educational work
– Architectural and urban design and construction -professional-artistic work
– Wider public professional activity of interest for the architectural profession in the society
In the field of scientific research and pedagogical-educational work, the focus is on theoretical study of housing issues, related to the theoretical field of teaching at the Faculty of Architecture, as evidenced by the book in the field “Architectural organization of space Housing, thematic units” which he wrote for teaching purposes at the Faculty, as well as for the wider professional and cultural public. He was also the coordinator of the scientific research project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, which is based in the field of housing architecture. He teaches at all levels of studies from undergraduate to postgraduate, he is a mentor and a member of committees for over 15 doctoral and master’s theses. In addition to residential architecture, the area of teaching is also the methodology of the design process and creative thinking through the formulation of the concept in the given contextual conditions. He has given guest lectures and workshops on these topics at other faculties in the country and abroad, including guest appearances at the Faculty of Architecture in Melbourne, Sapienza University in Rome, the University of Daegu, South Korea and lectures at Keio University in Tokyo.
In the field of architectural and urban design and construction, he has an evident, extensive opus:
19 executed buildings, 5 buildings under construction, participation in over 30 professional competitions in the country and abroad, where he won 9 first prizes, 6 second, 3 third and multiple honorable mentions. In close to, 3 decades as a practicing professional, he has over 50 urban designs, program-spatial studies, conceptual and detail design projects for complexes, buildings and interiors. There is a typical interest in more complex program-spatial, architectural-urban compositions in which the functional, engineering-technical and architectural-design aspects of the task are dominant, as well as the issues related to matching the work into the spatial and social context.
In the field of wider public professional activity, he permanently participates in professional social activities and bodies from the Association of Architects of Serbia, Chamber of Engineers, as a member of working groups of the Ministry for Improvement of Rules and regulations in the Field of Housing, concluding with the position of President of Steering Committee of the Republic Institute for protection of Cultural Monuments of Serbia. As one of the architects continuously present on projects of interest to the wider community, he has a large number of public appearances, interviews, shows, articles, in all media that deal with current topics of the profession.
